The Jávorkai Brothers are a virtuoso violin and cello duo, a pair of brothers who have won professional awards and prizes, and are internationally acclaimed.
Dynamics, inventiveness, absolute technical security, musicality from within – these are the words that critics usually use to describe their art. Sándor and Ádám were born into a family of famous musicians in Győr, Hungary, who are also renowned internationally. Sándor took his first violin lessons from his father at the age of three, and by the age of five he was already playing for an audience with success.
His brother, Ádám chose the cello, in which he achieved similar acclaim.
They both graduated from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, while also studying for a doctorate in musicology. They were the first foreign performers to be awarded the Young Musician of the Year in Austria for two consecutive years, in 2009 and 2010.
Their album, released under the Gramola label, won the CD of the month award in Austria at the time of its release.
The sibling duo have enjoyed unbroken success, performing in recent years in concert halls such as the Musikverein Wien,Wiener Konzerthaus, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Art Center Soul and Opera City Tokyo. The Jávorkai Brothers have already conquered the Far East as well, with their latest recording on Tokyo’s NHK television being seen by more than 8 million viewers.
